Choices Year 11

At the end of Year 11 you will be able to choose from a variety of options: college, sixth form, employment, training, work with training and voluntary work.

When you begin to look at the range of options available it can seem very confusing. It’s good that there is so much to choose from, as there really is an option to suit everyone.

It does mean that you will need to explore each option carefully before deciding what’s best for you. You can find out more by visiting the open evenings provided by the sixth forms and colleges, and information events offered by the training providers.

Look out in school for details of these events which usually take place in the autumn/early spring term of Year 11.

A very helpful guide for Year 11 students called It’s Your Choice is available from Connexions. This explains the range of options available at the end of Year 11. It can be downloaded from the website or you can order it direct from DCSF publications on 0845 602 2260.

A new scheme across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton now makes it easier for you to apply for an Apprenticeship or work-based learning opportunity. Apprenticeships Online allows you to apply online to more than one provider.
